Friction Experiments

A card is affixed to a
wooden block. The card faces the motion detector located near end of
table. Felt may be included on the undersurface, when a more consistent,
smother friction is desired. |

In the 1st
investigation, the block is not attached, but rather it is pushed and
then allowed to stop. The friction slows it, as approaches the
detector.

In the 2nd
investigation, a force is supplied via string over a pulley to a hanging
weight. The total mass, is computed by ALL moving mass in the system
subject to acceleration. |
