In researching, examining, and writing about the history of interactive video games, it was evident that the depth and breadth of this topic was amazingly complex and difficult to coalesce. It is obvious that the interactive advancements from Baffle Ball and pinball to the Playstation 2 and the Microsoft XBox have grown at the cost of business alliances, reputations, and creativity. Even as this paper is being written, changes and advances in technology that control the video game industry are altering the ways that we interact with home gaming consoles. Because of interactive video games, our interactivity with the world around us will continue to change and evolve as our simple everyday lives become more interactive.
