An avatar is a representation of yourself in cyberspace. For example, if your name in a chat room is brilliance1982, then that would be your avatar. Some Internet users have taken avatars to greater heights than simple usernames in chat rooms. They have created whole identities and even universes for themselves. At the Avatar Teleport, a user can find links to hundreds of these universes and the avatars that created them. One of the largest is Active Worlds, a web site with over 300,000 custom universes and avatars. They claim thousands of tourists who act like tourists in real life, surfing the site's 3D attractions.
