What is Auto CAD?
Auto CAD (Computer-Aided Design) is a combination of software and
hardware developed for drafting and designing. Primarily engineers,
architects and designers use it.

Why
is it used?
The advantages of Auto CAD are that a design can be viewed from
any angle, that colleagues can collaborate in Realtime, and that
drawing files can be exchanged.

How does it relate to Interactive Media?
Auto CAD is a very interactive system. In addition to interacting
with the software itself, users may interact with one another by sharing
files; CAD drawings can be viewed and edited on-line using plug-in
programs, and users may collaborate with one another in Realtime.

A
Brief History
Auto CAD was developed
in the 1980’s by Autodesk (of Marin Software Partners). It
started as a decentralized group of programmers who sought out to,
“develop and market software packages, primarily application
but also system, for popular mass-market computer systems, including,
but not limited to, CP/M, IBM 8086 DOS, and Unix System III.”
