Explanation of Bookmarks for History of Psychology (Psych 401)

This website is intended for students in Dr. Kulkosky's History and Systems of Psychology course (Psychology 401) and other scholars of the history of psychological sciences. The bookmarks are provided to complement coverage in Dr. C. James Goodwin's A History of Modern Psychology and Dr. Robert C. Bolles' The Story of Psychology. Links are listed for major systems and characters emphasized in these texts. Some ideas and people not covered in either text are also included in the lists of hyperlinks. For example, we are trying to provide links to those recently identified as the"'100' Most Eminent Psychologists of the 20th Century" by Steven J. Haggbloom and colleagues. Not all of these 99 are covered in either text, but Haggbloom et al.'s analysis appears to provide an appropriate empirical basis for a scientific history of Psychology. Links to some significant ideas, people, and websites in history of psychology have not yet been found and listed. Subjects and personalities are grouped thematically, but each link is presented only once. Many individuals made contributions to several themes, so when searching for a personality, look under multiple categories. E.g., Munsterberg and Cattell are listed under American Functional Psychology but they made major contributions to Applied Psychology as well. When searching for a word within the listing of links, use the search engine at the top of the page. When a webpage has been displayed, then use the "Find" command under "Edit" in either Netscape or Explorer to locate a name within the page. Alternatively, open the frame in a new window and then use "Find" under "Edit" in Netscape or Explorer. Most links were found using common search engines such as Yahoo, Go, Alta Vista, and Lycos listed on our Favorite Links page. You can find additional pages using these or other search engines. Not all websites provide completely accurate information or portrayals. This site is under construction; please let me know if you find serious errors, broken links, sites to add or delete, or want further information on Psych 401.
