Craig's List
One of the earliest - and most successful - attempts to create an online "community." It started in San Francisco, but there are now Craig's Lists in most major US cities - including Denver.
Real Cities
Knight Ridder's network of news sites, linking together content from all of its daily newspapers. A favorite of mine, since I did much of the early work on it.
San Jose Mercury News
Knight Ridder is the nation's second-largest newspaper chan and this is its flagship paper. The Merc is THE newspaper of the Silicon Valley.
