Possible Final Exam Questions

Two of the following three essay questions will appear on your final exam.  You will answer ONE:

1. How did the role of the federal government in American life change between 1929 and 2000? In what ways did it become more important to individual Americans? In what ways did it become less important? What groups of Americans were most impacted by these changes and why?

 2. How have the needs, ideas and desires of the Baby Boom generation affected the history of the United States since 1945? In answering this question you are welcome to focus on a particular decade or an area of history rather than trying to cover the history of this entire demographic group from WWII to the present. Be sure to define exactly who a Baby Boomer is and why.

 3.  We have spent an awful lot of time discussing Presidents and their presidencies in the second half of this course.  Which of the Presidents we have concerned has had the greatest effect on the course of American history?  Is it because of their successes, their failures or both?  Explain, citing specific examples of your chosen president’s decisions and policies while in office.
